Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel is a spa town and former mining town in Saxony, Germany, approximately 35 kilometres southeast of the city centre of Dresden. The current town was formed in 1999 by the merger of the spa towns of Bad Gottleuba and Berggießhübel, as well as the municipalities of Langenhennersdorf and Bahratal. The area is part of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district.

Stole

Mining has been taking place in and around Berggießhübel since the Middle Ages. A visit to the adit will, in a word, draw you into the environment in which miners used to work. The adit has a very interesting history. In 1726, it served as a drainage tunnel and leads 400 meters into the heart of the mountain. As you walk through it, you will discover former iron ore deposits, the camp of the Mother of God. You will walk through areas that still demonstrate the unchanged situation of old mining. In addition to classic tours with historical interpretation, the Marie Louisa adit also fulfills a cultural and social function. The adit offers the opportunity to organize private and corporate celebrations, is an educational center for the region, and also has medical uses – healing sessions are regularly held here.
