Restrictions due to high temperatures
Tropical summer temperatures are here. Many of us are therefore logically seeking shelter in the cool shade of sandstone rocks, deep forest ravines or by the water. However, in order to protect our unique wildlife from the risk of fires, preventive safety measures have come into force – both on the Czech and Saxon sides of the border, as well as throughout the Ústí nad Labem region.
🇨🇿 What applies in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park?
- A high level of fire risk has been declared, and therefore…
-
For preventive reasons, entry into the forests within the national park is permitted from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
-
Only travel on marked hiking trails.
-
Smoking, lighting open fires, and using any outdoor gas or alcohol stoves are strictly prohibited in the forests.
🇩🇪 What applies in Saxon Switzerland?
-
On the German side, it is prohibited to leave marked forest paths 24 hours a day.
-
Currently, it is not allowed to use traditional bivouac sites (so-called Boofen), trekking huts, forest cabins or tent sites. Sleeping overnight in the forest is now prohibited.
-
Carrying any flammable or fire-hazardous objects into the forest is prohibited and violations of the rules are strictly controlled and fined.
🚒 Regional regulation of the Ústí nad Labem Region (valid from June 26, 2026, 11:00)
The regional authority has declared a period of increased fire danger for the entire region. In areas with dry vegetation, in forests and within 50 meters of the forest edge, it is strictly prohibited to:
-
Smoking, lighting or maintaining an open fire.
-
Throw away burning or smoldering objects.
-
Burn flammable substances in the open.
-
Use fireworks outside of contiguous urban areas.
Thank you for exploring respectfully and helping us protect Bohemian Switzerland.
