Frequently Asked Questions: Everything You Need to Know Before Traveling to Bohemian Switzerland

Top Destinations and How to Get There

How do I get to Pravčická brána? The largest natural rock arch in Europe is open year-round.
  • From Hřensko (red trail): From the Tři prameny junction, there is an approximately 2-kilometer climb ahead of you (about a 30-minute walk). You can reach Hřensko by bus No. 434 or 438 from Děčín.
  • From Mezná (yellow trail): the route goes along Mlýnská cesta (about 4 km). Mezná is the perfect starting point if you want to combine a visit to Pravčická brána with a trip to Divoká soutěska.

  • ⚠️ Important: Gabriel’s Trail (the route from Mezní Louka) is closed for safety reasons.

  • Tip: You can purchase tickets for Pravčická brána online.

  • Mary’s Rock, with its iconic wooden gazebo. The climb is steep, up an iron staircase, but the view of the Jetřichovice Cliffs is unbeatable. (Starting point: Jetřichovice, then follow the red trail).
  • Vilemína’s Wall and Rudolf’s Rock are part of the trail leading from Mary’s Rock. Rudolf’s Rock features a steep climb up a ladder.

  • Šaunštejn (the Bandits’ Castle) is located near Vysoká Lípa. The climb involves navigating narrow rock crevices and climbing ladders, but the view is priceless.

  • You can hike up Děčínský Sněžník and its observation tower from the parking lot at the base of the mountain (near Hřebenová bouda). The trail to the observation tower is a gentle climb along a paved path.

Families and trips with children

Where to go with a stroller or small children? Even in the heart of the rocks you will find routes that you can manage with a stroller:
  • Kyjov valley: asphalt road along the Křinice river (Krásná Lípa -> Kyjov).
  • There is a paved road leading from Vysoké Lípa to Dolský Mill (the filming location of The Proud Princess), which you can manage with an all-terrain buggy.
  • The Krásnolipská route: safe and well-maintained paths with beautiful views of the Lusatian Mountains (Krásná Lípa > Horní Podluží).
  • The Czech Road at Vysoké Lípa nature trail leads along a paved asphalt road and is varied with several stops, including the coal miner’s cottage from the fairy tale The Proud Princess. More information here.
Tip
  • We have a tip for children who don’t enjoy “walking”. Download our app Discover Bohemian Switzerland. Lupínek the Wolf will guide children through the routes with puzzles and tasks. We also recommend visiting the interactive exhibition in the House of Bohemian Switzerland in Krásná Lípa as an ideal program when it rains.

Where to stay?

Where to go with a stroller or small children? Even in the heart of the rocks you will find routes that you can manage with a stroller:
  • For camping and caravans: use the stellplatz in Krásná Lípa, on Vlčí Hora or at Zvoneček in Jetřichovice. ⚠️ Camping in the wild on the territory of the NP is strictly forbidden.

Transport and parking

Where to park the motorhome?

Use only reserved parking spaces:

  • Beautiful Linden: Mánesova street (great facilities, electricity, water).

  • Jetřichovice: stellplatz at Zvoneček (right at the entrance to the lookout).

  • Wolf Mountain: small quiet stellplatz in the garden.

Does public transport work in the region?

Yes, I am! We recommend leaving the car at the accommodation and using the tourist buses (lines 434, 435, 438) or the U28 and U8(National Park Railway), which runs around both national parks – Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland, offering a perfect connection and extension of the visitor possibilities.
