Give e-bikes a try and explore the region
Electric bikes have become a real trend in recent years. And it’s no wonder—for many of us, an electric bike is a way to get to places we couldn’t reach on a regular bike.
An e-bike lets you go on longer and more challenging rides. Hills that used to intimidate you will no longer be an obstacle. Age or health limitations don’t have to be a factor here. Plus, with an e-bike, you can adjust the level of assistance yourself, so if you’re worried that the bike will do all the work for you, don’t worry—there’s a solution for that, too. It’s a way to be together again. It’s not uncommon for one partner to struggle to keep up with the other. An e-bike is the solution for taking trips together again without worrying that someone will have to wait for you.
It wouldn’t be fair not to mention a few drawbacks. An e-bike is much heavier because of its battery. Its weight therefore clearly affects its handling, which is something you need to keep in mind at all times. It will help you uphill, but if you choose a route where you’ll need to get off the bike and lift it a few times, be prepared for its weight. Similarly, if you choose an off-road descent, an e-bike isn’t exactly the best option. You also need to consider the battery life, though every e-bike is equipped with a smart onboard computer that informs you of the battery’s status while riding, so you can adjust your route on the go. Plus, these days you can easily recharge an e-bike at a pub, for example, since its battery is compatible with a standard 230 V outlet.
But what really matters these days is consideration. An e-bike is faster than a regular bike, but much harder to control, so we need to be considerate of each other and respect the fact that we’re not alone out there. Besides cyclists, we often encounter pedestrians, people with strollers, people walking their dogs, and so on, so it’s a good idea to adjust your speed accordingly and be ready to react. Otherwise, the same rules apply to riding an e-bike as to riding a regular bike. A helmet is a must—it protects your health! Plus, its poorer handling certainly won’t be helped by five beers along the way.

The Bohemian Switzerland region offers many locations that are perfect for e-bike trips! Specific examples include the Czech Road to Tokáň or the so-called Elberadweg on the left bank of the Elbe River from Děčín to Schmilka. There are more than enough marked bike paths and trails here, and there’s something for everyone. If you’re thinking about trying out an e-bike, you can visit one of the rental shops, where they’ll be happy to advise you and explain everything.

If you can’t wait to go on a trip, reserve an e-bike today. Don’t hesitate to use the Rent-your-ebike rental service in Vysoká Lípa/Jetřichovice.
