Brotherhood Altar (Brüderaltar)
The origin of the area is not reliably documented. According to folk tales, Catholics secretly met here in the years 1515 – 1614, when the estate was owned by Protestant nobility. On the contrary, after the White Mountain, Protestant ceremonies were supposed to take place here. According to other sources, the place was established as a pilgrimage site only in 1867 and in 1887, rich decorations were placed there, including statues and a decorated wooden altar.
After World War II, the site was abandoned and only in 1993 was the site cleaned up again and a memorial plaque with a relief of the former altar was placed there. Today, you can see the carved niches along the Stations of the Cross, the rocky overhang where the altar and the niche of the Holy Sepulchre used to stand, and the remains of the damaged statues (as of the summer of 2010).
