It is 21 km long to the state border in Varnsdorf, of which 16 km is on Czech territory, and the catchment area at this point is 101.7 km² (30.9 km² on German territory). After another approximately 20 km of flow on German territory, it flows into the Lusatian Nisa at an altitude of 228 m in Zittau. The largest tributary of the Mandava is the Lužnička.
