Kögler’s Nature Trail Through the Krásná Lipa Region

Thanks to a native of Krásná Lípa – Rudolf Kögler – the first documented nature trail in the Czech Republic was created on October 12, 1941. After many years of devastation and oblivion, it was reconstructed and extended again in 2006 at the initiative of the Town of Krásná Lípa with the support of the KČT Krásná Lípa inyear. The trail is the first certified trail in the Czech Republic and is open all year round. The twenty-three-kilometer circuit of the nature trail begins at the Krásná Lípa square. The first stop is the city park, which was founded in 1888–89. The trail will lead tourists along the geological fault of the Lusatian Fault. It will pass through the Vápenka nature reserve, the Kyjovské valley, take tourists to the Vlčí hora lookout tower and through the Krásná Buk castle ruins back to Krásná Lípa. The entire route is situated on the territory of three protected areas: the Lusatian Mountains Protected Area, the Labské Pískovce Protected Area and the Czech Switzerland National Park. The diversity and ruggedness of the landscape, complemented by the artisanal legacy of our ancestors, ensures the attractiveness and deeper knowledge of our beautiful region. The trail is complemented by interactive elements, especially for families with children. A similar map and guide are published for the trail.
