The Springs of Křinice

The romantic river Křinice, known primarily as the wild river of Bohemia and Saxon Switzerland, springs in the middle of the forests between Krásná Lípa and Studánka about 300 m north of the road connecting the two villages. A quiet and romantic forest corner with rich horsetail vegetation, in which water from several smaller springs merges, lies at an altitude of around 500 m above sea level. It was originally called “Wild Springs” (Wilde Borne) and is now called Tři studánky. The area around the springs was landscaped and ceremonially opened to tourists on October 20, 1908. Two smaller and occasionally drying springs are now walled off and protected by a low metal railing, and a wooden hexagonal gazebo with benches stands above the third and most abundant spring. From here, the river flows towards Krásná Lípa, then through the Kyjovské Valley, where at its end it enters the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The springs can be reached along the blue tourist trail from the village of Studánka (2km) or along the blue trail from Krásná Lípa (3km). Cycle trail no. 3013.
