Where to Eat Well in Bohemian Switzerland
A hike without food is like a boat without a punt pole (something you will quickly realise in the Divoká soutěska gorge :-)). What we mean to say is that a proper gastronomic experience rounds off a day out in nature beautifully – much like topping off a freshly poured beer with a perfect head. So, where should you head to enjoy that perfect culinary finale in Bohemian Switzerland? You can find all the best spots clearly listed right here.
Hotel Ostrov
Head chef René Tichý is the uncrowned king of the Ostrov valley – a place where you will lose your mobile signal but rediscover your zest for life thanks to the incredible flavours. The care, honesty, and innovation of the local kitchen constantly push the boundaries of dining experiences higher. On the menu, you will find proven evergreens such as duck, steak tartare, or the traditional kulajda soup (highly praised by Czech food guru Lukáš Hejlík), but you can also enjoy dishes you don’t easily stumble across on a standard hike, like rabbit. Take a look at the wine list too; there are some real pearls hidden inside!

Resort Mezná
If you are hiking in the western part of Bohemian Switzerland above Hřensko, Restaurace Na Vyhlídce at Resort Mezná is the perfect place to round off your trip gastronomically. Open daily throughout the year, it prides itself on high-quality, seasonal ingredients sourced from regional suppliers. It transforms them into honest, home-cooked cuisine, elevated to a premium level through modern culinary techniques and attentive service.
Hotel Lužan
The Pizzeria and Steakhouse on the first floor of Hotel Lužan prides itself on both taste and visual quality. However, you can also feast your eyes on the view of the historic arcades of the town square in Rumburk. In addition to pizza and signature steaks, you can enjoy other Italian specialities and homemade desserts. The pizzeria also keeps a regularly updated Facebook profile where you can find the current lunchtime menu at a discounted price.

Resort Dymník
Be sure to book a table at the Resort Dymník restaurant in advance, otherwise you won’t get a seat – and that would be a great shame. After a walk up to the lookout tower or a rigorous session on the football-golf course, you are bound to be hungry, and you would be hard-pressed to find better gastronomy out here at the “end of the world”. You can choose from Czech classics, but you can also treat yourself to trout from the local ponds, a mushroom krupeto (barley risotto), or a pulled pork burger. The Dymník menu features a special section dedicated to schnitzels, which are strictly shallow-fried slowly on lard. Don’t worry, it is worth the wait!
Pension Na Stodolci
When you feel like you want to not just eat, but also slow down a bit and soak up the atmosphere, head to Penzion Na Stodolci in Chřibské. This is exactly the kind of place where you take off your backpack after a hike, take a deep breath – and feel right at home. The restaurant builds on honest home cooking with a modern twist, using ingredients with a clear name and origin. Do not expect a mundane, run-of-the-mill menu, but rather dishes that will delight both a hungry hiker and a true gourmet. And because a good meal deserves a great beer, you can also enjoy a carefully selected brew to bring your culinary experience to a perfect finish.

Hotel and restaurant Kortus
When in Vysoká Lípa, perhaps on your way back from the Šaunštejn rock castle, stop by the recently renovated restaurant at Hotel Kortus. Modern Czech excursion cuisine awaits you here, with the beef burger and pork ribs being particular standouts.
Falkenštejn Brewery
Falkenštejn is love at first sight. Whether it is due to the beautifully renovated brewery premises, the superb beer, the friendly crowd of regulars, or the vibrant atmosphere of the town square in Krásná Lípa, you will simply feel right at home. Head chef René Vokurka ensures there is always something special on the menu, organising culinary events, innovating, and experimenting with international cuisine. Don’t forget to stock up on beer to take home; you’ll start missing it the moment you cross the very first hill.
Kocour Brewery
Kocour is one of the pioneering craft breweries in the Czech Republic, traditionally holding a leading position when it comes to beer quality. When taking a trip to the northern outcrop (the Šluknov hook), a visit to Kocour is an absolute must. The place is buzzing in both winter and summer, serving exactly what goes best with beer – such as a luxurious goulash or svíčková (beef in cream sauce) – while also catering to vegetarians and children.

Resort U Fořta
Modern Czech and international cuisine drawing from local resources will never disappoint you at U Fořta. Just a glance at the menu says it all: sous-vide venison loin steak with rosehip sauce, parsley purée, roasted yellow beetroot, and edible chestnuts, or perhaps slowly roasted duck leg with sautéed potato gnocchi, spring onion, confit red onion, and confit garlic… and you’re sold. This place is simply a safe bet, whether you stop by for a family dinner, a lunch with business partners, or a gastronomic grand finale to a hike across the most beautiful spots in Bohemian Switzerland.
Wellness Hotel Zámeček
Here, you will dine with a straight-A gold star. Visual presentation is taken seriously here, which perfectly matches the overall ornate and elegant atmosphere. A romantic dinner at Zámeček will beautifully highlight whatever is on your heart, while the prestigious premises are ideal for opening doors of communication with clients or business partners. The menu is based on what is local and in season, but they are not afraid to fine-tune it with more exotic ingredients. After all, we live in a global world, and you only live once…
