Easter celebrations in Bohemian Switzerland
Easter is a time of awakening nature and spring bloom, and where better to enjoy it than in the changing landscape of sandstone, ravines and deep forests? Krásná Lípa: the smell of herbs, folklore and the mystery of birds
- Aromatherapy Centre in Vlčí Hora: on Saturday, 28 March, in the world of herbs of the natural brand Nobilis Tilia, they have prepared a traditional spring creation, during which you can prepare wreaths for the door and Easter decorations.
- Opening of Křinice springs: the Czech Tourist Club Krásná Lípa invites you to a hiking trip in spring time. On Saturday, March 28, they are going to open the springs of Křinice. Meet at the square in Krásná Lípa.
- Kulturní dům v Krásná Lípa: on Sunday 29th March there will be an Easter afternoon with the folklore ensemble Dykyta – again with workshops for children.
- Easter creation in Lípa Resort: on Friday, April 3, the Lužičan Folklore Ensemble invites you to knit pomlázek and decorate gingerbread houses accompanied by folk music.
- House of Bohemian Switzerland: during holidays (3-6 April ), children can become Bird Detectives. An interactive game in the exhibition will teach them to identify bird eggs and they will receive a small gift as a reward.
Czech Kamenice will have a clean Kamenice
The administration of the National Park in cooperation with the charitable company Czech Switzerland is preparing for a serious spring cleaning. On Saturday , March 28, you can join them in cleaning the Kamenice River. Meet at 9:00 at the playground, bring good clothes and boots.
Hřensko comes alive with an Easter fair on a steamboat
In the village of Hřensko the holidays will be truly spectacular. There will be markets, concerts, surprises for children and even special steamboat rides! The markets are from 3 to 6 April and offer regional products and a relaxed festive atmosphere. Boat transport to Hřensko will be provided according to the DÚK tariff (Ústí nad Labem-Hřensko 85 CZK, Děčín-Hřensko 45 CZK, children under 6 years free of charge). On Friday and Saturday, the historic paddle-wheel steamer Labe-Elbe will set sail, and on Sunday and Monday, the boat Bohemia. It is recommended to be at the boarding points in advance, an increased number of visitors is expected.
Chřibská and Rumburk will be marked by glass and egg hunt
- Chřibská: at the weekend 28.-29. March will ignite the glass furnaces in Horní Chřibská. From 1 to 5 p.m., the Friends of the Chřibská Glassworks will give you a glimpse of the production of fragile beauty.
- Hike to Dymník: on White Saturday, April 4, go with KČT Rumburk for “Easter egg to Dymník”. You will be rewarded with a view from the lookout tower and after the descent you can enjoy a festive menu in the Dymník Restaurant.
Easter at the castle
- State Chateau Benešov nad Ploučnicí: here you will not only find Easter workshops, but also the opening of the new season. On Thursday 2 April, a special tour awaits you and you can celebrate Easter at the castle until 6 April.
- Šluknov Castle: on Good Friday, 3 April, the castle premises will be transformed into a creative workshop. From 2 p.m., a Bunny Afternoon with pomlazek knitting and fairy-tale theatre awaits children.
- Děčín Castle: the White Saturday on April 4 will belong to fairy tales. On Saturday, Christmas Day will be on Christmas Eve. (Advance booking is recommended!)
Mikulášovice and Lipová will stir up living traditions
- Easter ride: on Easter Sunday, 5 April, don’t miss the unique procession of horse riders in Mikulášovice. This ancient custom (Osterreiten) has deep roots and a wonderful atmosphere in the region.
- Podstávkový dům v Lipová: on Saturday, 4 April, you can try your hand at making “pascal” (Easter candles) and baking traditional sweets in the authentic setting of a timbered house.
Easter holidays are a great opportunity not only for celebrations, but also for spring trips to the picturesque nature of Bohemian Switzerland. For example, head to the romantic Kyjov valley, which comes alive in spring with the sound of the brook and the singing of birds. Or climb the Jetřichovice lookout points – Maria’s Rock, Vilemín’s Wall and Rudolf’s Stone, which offer breathtaking views of the landscape.
Lovers of lookout towers can head to Jedlová, Dymník, Tanečnici, Vlčí hora or Hrádek u Varnsdorfu, where they can look around the landscape that is just waking up to spring. You can also discover historical places – visit Dolský Mill, famous from the fairy tale The Proud Princess, or the ruins of Tolštejn Castle, which offers a beautiful view of the surrounding Lusatian Mountains.

And if you are looking for a unique experience on the river, head to the Wild Gorge on the Kamenice River, which just opened its season on April 1. Boating among the rocks is an unforgettable experience for young and old alike.

And I could go on forever – there are countless places worth seeing. Bohemian Switzerland will delight lovers of quiet walks and brisk ascents, it offers mysterious corners, breathtaking views, history and experiences that will not be forgotten. Everyone will find their own piece of spring here.
