From Rybniště along forest paths via Karlova výšina to Krásná Lípa

Karlova výšina

Set off on a pleasant, easy walk that will take you from Rybniště through quiet forest glades and past a viewpoint right to the very heart of Bohemian Switzerland – Krásná Lípa. The route offers a balanced combination of nature, gentle climbs, stunning views of the countryside and a chance to relax in the town park.

Karlova výšina

The walk begins at the post office in Rybniště (by the bus stop/car park). From here, follow the red tourist trail, which, after a 45-minute leisurely walk along forest paths, will take you to the signpost at Pod Kočičí skálou. At the signpost, turn onto the blue trail. After 15 minutes, you’ll climb up to the Karlova výšina viewpoint, where you’ll be treated to a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and the ridges of the Lusatian Mountains and Bohemian Switzerland.

From Karlova výšina, continue along the blue trail. A steeper, but all the more adventurous, descent along a stony path awaits you. After 30 minutes, you’ll reach the signpost Pod Vápenkou. From here, rejoin the red trail and you’ll arrive at the Kamenná Horka viewpoint, which offers further picturesque views of the Lusatian Mountains countryside, with the typical half-timbered houses in the surrounding area.

Continue along the red trail towards civilisation. In 20 minutes, you’ll find yourself in the green oasis of Krásná Lípa Town Park, which is the ideal spot for a short rest. From here, it’s just a 5-minute walk to the centre of Krásná Lípa (the square/bus stop).

Practical information

  • Transport: Bus route BUS 409 (Chřibská – Krásná Lípa – Rumburk – Staré Křečany – Mikulášovice – Dolní Poustevna) stops at Rybniště. Alternatively, you can travel by car and park in Rybniště. Alternatively, in the opposite direction, you can park in Krásná Lípa on the square.
  • Refreshments: We recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks for the walk. At the end of the route in Krásná Lípa, you’ll find a wide range of restaurants (Lípa Resort Restaurant), cafés and the local Falkenštejn brewery right on the square.
  • Season: The route is lovely to walk all year round. It has the most beautiful atmosphere from spring to autumn, when the viewpoints are framed by the colours of the changing seasons.
  • Tips for other trips in the area: From Krásná Lípa, you can set off along the Ridge trails through Bohemian Switzerland towards Kyjov and the Kyjov Valley.
