Wolf Mountain Lookout Tower

The brick lookout tower, located at an altitude of 581 m, with 82 steps, is the oldest lookout tower in the Šluknov Promontory. In 1909, the viewing platform with battlements was roofed, increasing the height of the lookout tower to its current height of 16 m.

In 1996 – 1999, a complete reconstruction was carried out and 110 years after its foundation, on May 22, 1999, the lookout tower was reopened. Since then, the tower belongs to the town of Krásná Lípa, which rented it to the local Czech Tourist Club. The neighboring cottage is still private, so visitors can only sit at tables with benches located on a small platform in front of the lookout tower.

From the covered observation platform of the tower, a beautiful circular view opens up to the distant surroundings. To the south, the continuous ridge of the Lusatian Mountains rises with the prominent peaks of Luže, Jedlová and Studenec, to the southwest lies the undulating forested landscape of Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland with the Růžovská Hora, the Děčínský Sněžník and the table mountains in Germany. To the north, the peaks of the Šluknov Uplands and Upper Lusatia protrude, while to the east, in clear weather, views open across the Zittau Basin to the distant ridges of the Ještěd, the Jizera Mountains and the Krkonoše Mountains.
