To the mysterious Dolský Mill

One of the most picturesque trails in Bohemian Switzerland will lead you deep into the romantic valley of the Kamenice River, where the ruins of Dolský mlýn (Dolský Mill) are situated, just under the steep rocks – a quiet place with a troubled history and movie magic. The path to the mill leads through shady forests, past a well and the confluence of two streams, and continues past viewpoints to the charming lookout tower Růženka above the village of Růžová. The trip is perfect for lovers of peace, nature, and mysterious corners.

How to get there?

The yellow marked trail to Dolský Mill starts at the bus stop Jetřichovice, Starý mlýn. You will walk along a nice forest path, suitable for strollers, along the Jetřichovická Bělá river, past the spring of St. Hubert, to the crossroads Královský Smrk. It is here, at the reinforced concrete bridge in Ferdinand’s Gorge, that the Bělá flows into the Kamenice. Continue on and you will soon reach the romantic ruins of Dolský Mill shrouded in an interesting and turbulent history dating back to the early modern period. Thanks to its magical atmosphere, the mill has starred in several film fairy tales such as Pyšná princezna and Peklo s princeznou.

From the mill, follow the blue trail to Kamenická Stráň – we recommend not going past the turn to Kamenická vyhlídka, which offers beautiful views. Continue along the blue trail to the crossroads Pod Růžovským vrchem, from where the yellow trail will lead you to Růžová. At the edge of the village, you may be tempted by the turn to Pastevní vrch, with one of the cutest lookout towers, not only in name but also in appearance – Růženka. It boasts unexpectedly far views: to the Lusatian Mountains, Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland, the Ore Mountains and even the Central Bohemian Uplands. After visiting Pastevní vrch, return via the yellow trail to Růžová, where there is a bus stop.
