Stone pedestal with a cross Horní Poustevna
The classicist granite pedestal with a wrought cross and painted silhouettes was erected in Horní Poustevná in 1824 by Anton Pietsch. During the restoration, a new monumental metal cross was created according to the description from 1836 and the original number of silhouettes were installed: the Virgin Mary, St. John, Mary Magdalene, five angels and God the Father. The inscription was restored: “Dir zu Lieb´ den Tod ich leide / Mir zu Lieb´ die Sünde meide. Errichtet/ von Anton/ Pietsch/ im Jahre/ 1824”. The lower inscription cartouche with festoons was added. The terrain around the pedestal was lowered and a terrace wall was built from granite blocks.
The reconstruction was carried out in 2010 by the non-profit organization České Švýcarsko as part of the Listen to the Voice of Villages project, funded through the Central Europe Transnational Cooperation Program and co-financed by the ERDF.
