Kögler’s Cross – Kamenná Horka
The history of the unique Kögler cross in Krásná Lípa dates back to 1792. It was built in the garden in front of the farmstead and inn No. 2 in Kamenná Horka, a local part of Krásná Buk, by the farmer and yarn merchant Josef Kögler. The most beautiful and special cross in the region attracts attention with its duality – the same obverse side faces the street and the same one faces the house. A number of stylized decorative ornaments and threads point to all four sides.
During the restoration, in addition to conserving the original cross, a replica of the sacred monument was created and installed in its original place. The new pedestal was carved from sandstone, which comes from a quarry near Pirna in Saxony. The oldest of the three discovered layers of polychromy (dark red and light gray-pink color) was repeated on it. A new steel cross was forged. The decorative decoration of the cross was gilded and painted in green and red, just as it was in the 18th century. The color solution came from a laboratory survey of the preserved fragments of the original color. Cross 1. 12. In 2011, Father Antonín Sedlák, pastor of the Roman Catholic parish of Krásná Lípa, blessed it.
The reconstruction of the cross was carried out in 2011 by the non-profit organization České Švýcarsko as part of the Listen to the Voice of Villages project, funded through the Central Europe Transnational Cooperation Program and co-financed from the ERDF.
