Forststeig

The Elbe Sandstone Forest Trail is a multi-day, cross-border trek that winds through the forests on the left bank of Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland, offering a unique forest experience far from human settlements. The trail is open every year from April to October. It offers experienced and well-equipped hikers a challenging multi-day trek similar to those in Scandinavia and New Zealand. The terrain requires good physical fitness—the route runs through state-owned forests in both countries, mostly along forest trails, paths, and logging roads, crossing twelve table mountains.
