Jetřichovice – the restored Mariina vyhlídka and other attractions

It served a purpose. When Prince Ferdinand Bonaventura had this little cottage built in 1856, he intended it to be a lookout post for fire patrols. It is therefore ironic that, 150 years later, it burnt down due to visitors’ negligence. Today, however, a new gazebo stands here, modelled on the original 19th-century structure – the new Mary’s Lookout was hoisted onto the rock by helicopter in February 2021.

Vilemína’s Lookout is also set for a makeover. The National Park Authority has promised new and safer railings for 2022. Those already familiar with the famous viewpoints can visit Čedičový vrch, Pfeifer’s Grove or explore Pavlínka Pond with its tunnel. If you want to enjoy the viewpoints all to yourself, head out during the off-season. Even winter or autumn walks have their own charm.

What new development is the village mayor, Marek Kny, most looking forward to?
“In the summer of 2022, we want to restore the memorial site – the statue of St John of Nepomuk with its column in the fields behind the village. The sculptor Jan Fedorčák is in charge of the work, and it’s going to be a real treat.”

Everything is geared towards reviving the traditional procession, which used to pass by this very spot on St John’s feast day, making its way from the church. Finally, some practical updates: plans are in place for a large, secure car park behind the village and a new footpath for Jetřichovice and Vysoká Lípa. Both villages would also like to have road signs installed to reduce the speed limit to 30 km/h.
