Things to Do in Krásná Lípa and the Surrounding Area
Anyone who has visited Krásná Lípa knows that it’s truly beautiful here. And in recent years, the town has really been thriving—in every season—thanks to the people who live and work here, and also because the Czech Republic’s newest national park is located right here.
In the so-called heart of Bohemian Switzerland, you can settle in for a few days and set out from there on trips to the national park in all directions, including the Šluknov Hook and the neighboring Lusatian Mountains.
You can also travel comfortably by train—just check out the schedules offered by Trilex, the Lužickohorský Express operated by the Railway Travelers’ Club, or ČD.
Don’t forget the green buses of the Ústí nad Labem Region and their tourist bus route 434, which will take you on a route between Krásná Lípa, Chřibská, Jetřichovice, Hřensko and Děčín. You can find more information about transport HERE.
You’ll love Křinické Square.
U Frinda patisserie and café
Cultural and sporting events take place in the square; in spring, for example, the international cycling race, the Tour de Feminin or the August event marking the anniversary of the opening of the local craft brewery, Falkenštejn Krásnolipská nádhera. The end of summer is marked by Czech Switzerland Day, featuring the Čechie Böhmerland motorbike show. And that’s by no means all – in short, this place is buzzing.
Standing on the square is the tastefully renovated, gleaming white building of the Falkenštejn Brewery, renowned for its superb beer and the equally superb cuisine of head chef René Vokurka, who complements his regular menu with frequent culinary events focusing on international cuisine and flavour experiences from around the world. After enjoying the brewery’s delights, you might not feel like going anywhere at all, so it’s good to know that Falkenštejn also offers stylish accommodation.
On Křinické Square, you’ll also find the House of Bohemian Switzerland, which features an information centre full of advice and tips for trips in the immediate and wider surroundings, a shop selling regional souvenirs and gifts, an interactive exhibition on the natural and cultural history of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, and even the option of modern and comfortable accommodation.
You’ll also find the extensive Lípa Resort here, which offers accommodation to suit every traveller – modern rooms in the Aparthotel, cosy rooms in the Guesthouse, or beds in the affordable Hostel. You’ll also enjoy excellent food here – the Lípa Restaurant serves generous breakfasts, hearty set lunches and special dinner experiences.
Pop into Café Nostalgie for a coffee, or on colder days for some punch or eggnog topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream Just a few steps from Křinické Square on Masarykova Street. Here, too, you can snuggle up under the duvet in the evening – there are two stylish flats here.

Where can I work off all that feasting?
You can work off all that feasting by A sports and leisure complex equipped with tennis courts, a climbing wall, a gym, mini-golf, a seating area with a barbecue, and attractions for children. At the heart of the complex is the Sportbar, where you can relax and enjoy refreshments. For relaxation and unwinding, you’ll find a new wellness centre here, where you can enjoy a Finnish sauna, steam room, infrared sauna and hot tub, as well as a cooling plunge pool and a cosy relaxation area.

Krásná Lípa also has its own unique escape game at Pumphut’s mill, where, in a group of 3–5 people, you’ll try to help the miller get the mill wheel turning again – a wheel that Pumphut has mischievously brought to a halt. In summer, you’ll be able to escape the heat for about an hour, and in winter, from… well, from the cold, basically :)
You can also discover the beautiful town of Lípa and a part of its history in a fun and engaging way. Simply install the ‘Skryté příběhy’ app on your mobile and download the ‘Mammoth Production’ mission. A mysterious story about the motorcycle manufacturer Čechie Böhmerland awaits you, full of unexpected challenges and interesting facts.
The little town is surrounded by greenery, and you don’t really need to go anywhere at all – just pop over to the magnificent municipal forest park. It’s also worth a visit because there’s a unique Dittrich Tomb. Why is it unique? In its day, it was one of the most opulent buildings; it was adorned with paintings by the artist and local native August Frind, and even had its own heating system thanks to a boiler room with a chimney… Set off on the ‘In the Footsteps of August Frind’ nature trail.
On your way back, relax on the wooden and concrete platforms on the beach by Cimrák Pond. The children will love the nearby playground, and you might even fancy a swim.
Plšík’s Garden

What else is there to visit?
Once you’ve explored all the attractions in Krásná Lípa (and we haven’t even mentioned Schindler’s knitting mill yet, or the chance to take a tour of the historic factory building, or the Church of St Mary Magdalene or the fact that the famous ‘Jägerovka’ sweets, named after the owner of the knitting mill, Gustav Jäger, first went into production in Krásná Lípa in 1893!), set off on a circular walk along the Kögler Nature Trail.. It is the oldest nature trail in the Czech Republic (1941), has a total of 39 stops, and you can join it just behind the House of Bohemian Switzerland in the centre of Krásná Lípa.
If you head along the Křinice towards Krásný Buk and beyond, do take a short detour to the pilgrimage church of Our Lady of the Snows.. Although the church hasn’t been restored, the place has a special atmosphere.
Continue on to Vlčí Hora, where you can split up. Those keen on the views will head off to the viewing tower, whilst those who fancy a bit of a rest will stay at Nobilis Tilia, an inspiring company that produces certified Czech organic aromatherapy cosmetics. And what can you experience here? You can take a stroll through the demonstration herb garden, where you can also relax amidst a floral mandala. At the Herbal Tea Room, you’ll enjoy a seasonal menu, delicacies from regional producers and, of course, herbal teas. In the shop, staff will advise you on choosing cosmetics and other fragrant products, including essential oils. You can also book a beauty treatment or massage at the salon, or take a guided tour of the production facilities. Find out more HERE.

Be sure to pop over to Kyjov as well, where you can enjoy some refreshments and high-quality entertainment at the ‘National Gallery’ Nová Perla or to explore the Kyjov Valley with its stunning rocky viewpoints. The ‘Through the Křinice Valley with All Your Senses’ nature trail also runs through here. As the name suggests, this nature trail is different; you won’t find the usual information boards full of text and diagrams here. Instead, it lets you discover nature at your own pace and through your senses – touch, sight and hearing.
Whilst exploring the Křinice Valley, you cannot fail to notice that the route coincides with the Bohemian Switzerland ridge trail; however, that is a topic for a separate chapter, which we cover elsewhere, so for now we recommend rounding off your visit to Kyjov with a swim in the recently renovated Kyjov Reservoir.
The Kögler Trail then winds its way on, past Jelení rokle and through Jezevčí nory to Vápenný vrch, before beginning to turn back towards Krásná Lípa. If you’d like to shorten your route and come across another unique feature, turn off at Kyjov, Kravín crossroads Follow the red tourist sign and head towards Kamenná Horka, keeping to the Hřebenovka trail. The local Meadow Bar a socially advanced society in the making :). You have to serve yourself here, at the outdoor bar built by a local carpenter and fully equipped (cooker, sink, fridge, barbecue, seating, a little pond, a bathing tub…) where you can sample the very best the region has to offer – from coffee and beer to sausages, cakes and other temptations. You then pay for everything by putting money into the cash box on the wall of the bar shed; no one checks up on you, demands payment or watches you – only the starry sky above you, as Kant would say…
