Mikulášovice knives and cutlery museum

Knife making has a tradition of over two hundred years in Mikulášovice and its surroundings. The Rybička pocket knife is the embodiment of this knife making tradition. Mikov s.r.o. has also received a certificate for a number of other products, including the Predator folding knife with a wooden handle, the Fixir hunting folding knife with a safety catch, and the Venado classic hunting knife with a fixed blade.

Knife production in Mikov still involves a large proportion of manual labor. Knives are not made on fully automated lines, but each one shows the original approach of Czech master knifemakers.

The development of cutlery and the production of knives, which were created in local factories over the past decades, are part of the exhibition of the newly opened Museum of Cutlery Tradition in the premises of the reconstructed Municipal Information Centre in Mikulášovice. Not only historical exhibits and great rarities are exhibited here, but also period photographs and texts about local production. In the future, the museum is also expected to be the starting point of a planned tourist trail through local landmarks.
