Děčínsky Sněžník Lookout Tower

One of the most beautiful stone lookout towers in Bohemia (726 m). It is 33 m high and its 153 steps lead to an open platform with a battlement, from which there is a beautiful circular view. It was originally used for geographical measurements. The lookout tower is one of the oldest in Bohemia.

Originally it was a generously conceived trigonometric tower of the 1st order, which was built at his own expense for the needs of Austrian, Saxon and Prussian surveyors by the owner of the estate, Count František Antonín Thun, but from the very beginning it has also been used for tourism. It is protected as a technical monument. In 1992, the dilapidated and closed tower underwent a complete reconstruction and was reopened to the public. There is a cafeteria, a mountain hut and a small lake near the lookout tower, and the top of the mountain is accessible from several directions by marked tourist paths.
