Lookout Tower Great Winterberg
With its height of 556 m, the Great Winterberg is the highest mountain on the right bank of the Elbe in Saxon Switzerland. On the left bank of the Elbe, the Great Zschirnstein is 4 m higher. The Great Winterberg lookout tower was built here in 1840. It is freely accessible during the opening hours of the local mountain hotel restaurant. The mountain hotel by the lookout tower was built between 1840 and 1846 in the Swiss style and is a listed building. The historic Ice House (Eishaus) was renovated in 2001 and 2002, and now serves as a self-service information point for the Saxon Switzerland National Park.
