Church of St. Peter and Paul – Varnsdorf

The Baroque church built in 1766–1776 with late Baroque decoration from 1777 is located on the square in Varnsdorf and is the oldest church in the city. The ceiling frescoes, the pulpit and the painting of the Madonna by František Tkadlík are worth noting. The church’s furnishings are Rococo and Classicist. In 1830, the premiere of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis was performed here. In honor of this event, a commemorative plaque was placed above the main entrance.
