Circular route to Jetřichovice viewpoints

Jetřichovicko is an area that used to be called the Back Country. After Pravčická brána, it is perhaps the second most famous place in Bohemian Switzerland, and rightly so. Tourism has been developing here since the beginning of the 19th century, mostly with the strong support of the noble Kinský family, who built the famous Jetřichovice viewpoints and the paths to them.

Where to go?

From Jetřichovice, start at the bus stop by the local information centre and follow the blue tourist trail that will lead you past the Church of St. John of Nepomuk. The trail continues through meadows, with beautiful views of Mary’s Rock and Vilemín’s Wall, to the rock chapel of the Last Judgement, also known as the Chapel of the Kny. Here you can take a short rest – you will climb up the red trail around the rocky mountain Koliště to the Pohovka crossroads.

From here, follow the red trail to the Rudolf’s Stone lookout, which offers a breathtaking circular view of the wide surroundings. From Rudolf’s Stone, descend through the Purkartický les fork to another rock landmark – Vilemínina Stena. From there you will reach a very nice resting place, the rock overhang Balzerovo ležení (Tetřevna), from where it is only a short walk to the last viewpoint of this route – the famous Maria’s Rock. From Maria’s Rock you will descend steeply down the red trail back to Jetřichovice, past the former children’s convalescent home, which now serves as an accommodation facility. Inside you will find space for your own tents, caravan pitches, motorhomes, and inside there are three cosy rooms and a suite with a balcony. In the summer months, there is also a kiosk with refreshments for tourists.
