To the mysterious Dolský Mill

One of the most picturesque trails in Bohemian Switzerland will take you deep into the romantic valley of the Kamenice river, where the ruins of Dolský mlýn (Dolský mill) stand under steep rocks – a quiet place with a moving history and movie magic. The path to the mill leads through shady forests, past a well and the confluence of two rivers, and continues through viewpoints to the charming lookout tower Růženka above the village of Růžová. The trip is perfect for lovers of peace, nature and mysterious corners.

Where to go?

The yellow marked route to Dolský mlýn starts at the Jetřichovice bus stop, Starý mlýn. You will walk along a nice forest path, suitable for prams, along the Jetřichovická Bělá river, past the spring of St. Hubert, to the crossroads Královský Smrk. It is here, at the reinforced concrete bridge in Ferdinand’s Gorge, that the Bělá flows into the Kamenice. Continue on and you will soon arrive at the romantic ruins Dolský Millsteeped in an interesting and turbulent history dating back to the early modern period. Thanks to its magical atmosphere, the mill has starred in several film fairy tales such as The Proud Princess and Hell with the Princess.

From the mill, follow the blue trail to Kamenická Stráňa – we recommend not forgetting the turn-off to Kamenická vyhlídka, which offers beautiful views. Continue along the blue trail to the crossroads Pod Růžovským vrchem, from where the yellow trail will lead you to Růžová. At the beginning of the village you may be tempted by the turn to Pastevní vrch, where one of the cutest lookout towers stands, not only in name but also in appearance – Růženka. It offers unexpectedly wide views: from the Lusatian Mountains, through the Czech and Saxon Switzerland, to the Ore Mountains and the Czech Central Highlands. After visiting Pasture Hill, take the yellow trail back to Růžová, where there is a bus stop.
