Big circuit around Hřensko

If you are looking for a day adventure in the heart of the Czech Switzerland National Park, this tour will take you to the most picturesque places around Hřensko. The route is approximately 18 km long and offers breathtaking views, a romantic cruise through the Wild Gorge and a visit to the iconic Pravčická Gate.

Where to go?

The trip starts in Hřensko, the BUS embankment, from where you take the yellow trail up towards the Elisalex lookout, which offers a beautiful view of Hřensko and the confluence of the Elbe and Kamenice rivers. For more views, head to the Janov lookout tower, which you will reach after about 90 minutes. Here you can relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the Czech Switzerland and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. From the Genoa lookout tower, continue along the yellow trail past the golf course towards Hájenky (near BUS 441), where you will join the green trail leading to the Mezní Most. From there, after about 10 minutes, follow the yellow signs upstream of Kamenice to the cruise platform. Wild Gorge. Here you will enjoy a magical ferry ride between the rocks, which is a favourite experience for all visitors to the region. After the cruise, follow the same route back to the Mezní Bridge and continue along the green trail to Mezná. The path is shorter but more physically demanding due to the stairs, expect about 20 minutes.

In Mezná, you will come out at the Mezná Resort, where you can refresh yourself while enjoying the view of the surrounding countryside. Once you’ve recharged your energy, continue along the yellow-marked Mlýnská cesta, where a new viewing platform, the Phoenix, opened this year. This offers a unique view of the massive Wing Walls, Pravčická Gate and the landscape that is gradually being restored after the devastating fire. The platform also includes a permanent outdoor exhibition of large-format photographs. This documents the transformation of the landscape in this part of the national park and introduces visitors to the process of its restoration.
