Locals refer to it simply as <b data-path-to-node=\"1\" data-index-in-node=\"140\">Chmel\u00e1k <\/b>(known in German as Hopfenberg). This striking volcanic hill takes its name from the D\u011b\u010d\u00edn neighborhood of Chmelnice and is now slowly regaining its status as a very popular destination for day trips. <\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"3\">A Volcanic Landmark Above the Elbe River<\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">Chmeln\u00edk is considered the most prominent of the hills in the \u00dast\u00ed Central Mountains. This striking effect is enhanced primarily by its eastern section, which slopes steeply down to the very bank of the Elbe. In the immediate vicinity, it forms a group of four peaks together with Popovick\u00fd vrch, Klobouk, and Lotar\u016fv vrch, ranking as the second-highest hill in this group.  <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">Chmeln\u00edk\u2019s steep slopes are covered by a valuable scree forest, managed by the D\u011b\u010d\u00edn Forestry Office.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">The slope also features an educational trail with a QR code detailing the history of the local landscape, including a lookout tower from the late 19th century. <\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"7\">The Reward at the Summit: Views of the Landscape<\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Why visit Chmeln\u00edk?
