It is 21 km long to the state border in Varnsdorf, of which 16 km is on Czech territory, and the catchment area at this point is 101.7 km\u00b2 (30.9 km\u00b2 on German territory). After another approximately 20 km of flow on German territory, it flows into the Lusatian Nisa at an altitude of 228 m in Zittau.
