This unique, epic procession of riders on horses in variously decorated costumes with top hats on their heads and marching musicians follows a pre-war tradition and an old Easter custom in German Lusatia.<\/p>\n
The procession travels through the streets of the city, stopping at a number of places and playing music, including liturgical compositions. It starts from the church and ends again at the church with a final composition. At the beginning of the event, the priest blesses the procession, and the entire procession is preceded by a Holy Mass. Approximately 800 visitors attend the event each year. The event usually takes place on Easter Sunday. <\/strong><\/p>\n The Easter Horsemen’s Pilgrimage was created spontaneously and was already a huge success during its first trial year in 2011. Today, dozens of horses and hundreds of pilgrims gallop in the procession, with dozens of musicians from the entire region providing musical accompaniment. Many foreign guests from Germany, Slovakia and Poland attend the event.
