The village is located in the valley of the Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 Kamenice River in the westernmost part of the Lusatian Mountains Protected Landscape Area, on the border of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, and thanks to its location it is one of the gates to the Back Bohemian Switzerland. The picturesque town consists of several local parts \u2013 Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1, Horn\u00ed Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1, Doln\u00ed Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 and Kr\u00e1sn\u00e9 Pole.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The town is notable for its typical half-timbered houses with a base, either single-storey or with a half-timbered floor and slate roofs with dormers or decorated gables. The main landmark of the town is the church of St. George with the rectory and the Stations of the Cross.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 has become famous both at home and abroad for its glass production. The craftsmanship and talent of glassmakers, as well as the originality of production, have been tested for centuries. Horn\u00ed Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 is home to what is probably the oldest glassworks in Europe with continuous operation, mentioned as early as 1414. However, the operation of the oldest active glassworks in Europe was terminated in 2007. The production of yarn and thread, which began in 1830 and is successfully continued by the company Amann, s.r.o., also gained great importance and fame.    <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 and its surroundings are home to many botanical rarities and natural wonders.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">What you should see<\/h2>\n<p id=\"docs-internal-guid-b8578271-0eee-2d48-ca35-3bc204acbbd6\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>St. George&#8217;s Church   <\/strong>&#8211; originally wooden, rebuilt in stone in 1596 and rebuilt again in Gothic style in 1901. The church consists of a three-aisled hall with a three-sided porch. The church grounds also include a rectory, a station of the cross with four corner chapels and Renaissance tombstones along the walls of the church.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Local History Museum<\/strong> \u2014dedicated to the history of Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 and its native son, Tade\u00e1\u0161 Haenke. The building, No. 22, is located right on the town square.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Ch\u0159ibsk\u00fd hr\u00e1dek\u2014 <\/strong>on a steep cliff above the Doubick\u00fd Stream valley, about 2 km from Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1. Archaeologists have discovered the remains of a small 13th-century rock fortress here.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Aqueduct at Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 Kamenice<\/strong> \u2013 this is the last preserved part of the waterworks supplying water to drive the waterwheel of the former Florian H\u00fcbel textile factory in Doln\u00ed Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 &#8211; Na Potok\u00e1ch.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Houses with a frame <\/strong>&#8211; or frame houses, typical of the region of northern Bohemia and Upper Lusatia, are characterized by a timbered ground floor and a special building element, the so-called frame, on which the roof structure or the upper, usually half-timbered floor rests. Most of these buildings can be found in Doln\u00ed Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Muzeum \u010deskoslovensk\u00e9ho opevn\u011bn\u00ed<\/strong> &#8211; expozice o ud\u00e1lostech z let 1935-1939 je k vid\u011bn\u00ed v b\u00fdval\u00e9 h\u00e1jovn\u011b na K\u0159\u00ed\u017eov\u00e9m Buku.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Thousands of blooming orchids (orchids) <\/strong>are spread out on waterlogged meadows right in Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1. In May, you can find purple and white flowering Mayflower on the U Brodsk\u00fdch meadow, and in August, in the Marschnerova louka nature reserve under the Spravedlov\u00e1n hill, you can find the marsh orchid. <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>L\u00edska Nature Reserve &#8211;<\/strong> on the northeastern slope of \u010cern\u00e1 hora, the protected perennial marigold blooms every year in May on an area of \u200b\u200bmore than one hectare.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Viewpoints around Ch\u0159ibsk\u00e1 <\/strong>&#8211; offer beautiful views of both the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and the Lusatian Mountains. You can get a partial view from the Spravedlov\u00e1n\u00ed hill, Ch\u0159ibsk\u00fd hill and Mal\u00fd Sto\u017eec. <\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">You know that&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8230;on the square at house no. 22 next to the former neo-Gothic town hall, there are two memorial plaques? They remind us that an exceptionally gifted Enlightenment intellectual, a prominent naturalist, traveler to South America, and botanist Tade\u00e1\u0161 Haenke was born here in 1761.
