Děčín ZOO

One of the fifteen ZOOs in the country is situated on the hill of Shepherd Cliff (Pastýřská stěna), close to the centre of Děčín. It is a member of the Union of Czech and Slovak ZOOs. A number of attractive events are organised every year, mainly to for the children to learn new things and have fun (events such as Earth Day, International Children’s Day, Adoptive Parents Day, quizzes, tests, etc.). The ZOO can also be an ideal destination for school excursions. The facility features a children’s corner, refreshment counters and souvenir stalls; a restaurant is also nearby. The ZOO is accessible to both pedestrians and motorists.

Establishment date: 1948, opened in 1949.
Area: 6 hectares

Interesting expositions: The Fauna of Bohemian Switzerland with a nature trail; “Bird House” (exotic birds, special focus on Indonesia); exposition of clawed monkeys and squirrel monkeys; exposition of chipmunks; black stork aviary; water fowl exposition; bears; babirusa.

The ZOO is open every day year-round.
